The college adheres to the combination of teaching, scientific research and production practice, and teaching and scientific research serve the national and local economic construction and the development of tobacco industry in an all-round way. Adhere to the professional orientation of industrial construction, personnel training and docking with industrial chain and enterprise group. At present, there are two Yunnan academician workstations, Yunnan Tobacco Science and engineering experimental teaching center, Yunnan tobacco industry graduate joint training and innovation base, National College Students' off campus practical education base, and fifteen off campus practical teaching bases jointly built with tobacco and other enterprises. More than thirty national natural science foundation projects and tobacco projects at all levels inside and outside the province, more than 30 authorized patents, more than 10 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards such as the National Tobacco Corporation and Yunnan Provincial People's government, and more than thirty provincial tobacco enterprises such as Yunnan tobacco company and Yunnan China Tobacco Industry Co., Ltd. Graduates of the college are employed in 17 provinces and regions across the country, providing more than 70% of technical and management talents for Yunnan tobacco industrial and commercial enterprises. The quality of talent training has been at the forefront of the ranking list of China scientific evaluation and Research Center (RCCSE) for 10 consecutive years. More than 2000 high-quality agricultural talents have been trained for the construction of new farmers, new countryside, new agriculture and new ecology.
